Hello! My name is Luis Domínguez Campos and I am a student of the Double Degree of Primary Education and English Studies at the University of Málaga. In this blog I will share my experiences, learning and research about geometry based on the knowledge acquired in the subject Didactics of Geometry.

Mathematics has always seemed to me a very important discipline within the school environment, however, I think that the way some teachers have been teaching this subject is what makes it a subject so feared by some students, especially in the field of geometry. Therefore, my main objective with this blog is to explore teaching strategies and relationships with areas of everyday life with geometry as this way it is more enjoyable to learn and see a real use.

Geometry is the basis of the universe, everything we see is based on geometric relationships that are intertwined with each other, from the rotation of the planets to the position of a beam in a building. Everything is based on geometry and that is why it is so important to get students interested in it, to see all that learning about geometry entails and all the benefits it has.

Throughout the course I intend to learn to design activities that encourage the teaching of geometry in a less traditional, more playful way that includes manipulation of objects, technological resources and practical experiences so that children do not see geometry as a part of the syllabus they have to pass, but as a useful discipline in their lives of which they are interested in knowing and deepen more about it.

This blog will be my space of reflection for all this, I will try to suggest different didactic strategies and relate geometry with everyday situations so that this blog can serve both me and the readers in the future as a teacher.

Welcome!
